Classroom Clinic joined other advocates for Mental Health Day on the Hill today. It’s an Iowa company that provides mental health services that work alongside existing school resources to support students. The company’s founder, Sue Gehling, says that support can make a big difference on student success.
“It’s going to have a downstream impact,” Gehling says. “It’s really going to make a difference in terms of helping kids be successful academically in the classroom, staying in school and graduating, and then becoming a contributing member of society. And diverting kids from actually going into the juvenile justice system or later into the prison system.”
Gehling says the effort of lawmakers to pass a bill to restrict cell phone use in school is a positive step in the right direction.
